A Pleat Off by 1.5cm — Should We Redo It?

Created on 04.03
Last week during quality control, I stopped a batch of trousers.
From a distance, the fit, fabric, and stitching all looked fine. But upon closer inspection — the pleat was off by about 1.5cm, misaligned with the center line of the leg.
A colleague from the workshop said, "It's only off by a little. The client probably won't notice. Rework is too much trouble."
I said: "But we see it."
In garment manufacturing, a pleat is not just decoration — it's structural. Its position determines the line and drape of the entire trouser. When the pleat is off, the leg twists outward, and the overall look suffers. The client may not be able to pinpoint what's wrong, but they'll feel that something is "off" when they try it on.
We are an OEM manufacturer. Brands trust us because they believe:
We will uphold the standards they don't have the time to see.
In manufacturing, the real difference is never about whether we can make the product — it's about:
· Whether we choose to rework when a deviation appears
· Whether we hold ourselves to a higher standard before the client ever complains
· Whether we remove "good enough" from our vocabulary
We reworked that batch. It cost us extra time and money. But in return, we gained peace of mind:
Every garment leaving our factory lives up to the label it carries.
You can't hide the details.
If you let them slide, the market won't.
